Position Available: Accounts Assistant
Location: Remote; Sri Lanka
Hours: Full-time - 5:30am - 1:30pm, IST Colombo time

What You’ll Be Doing:
As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the day-to-day bookkeeping and payroll functions, ensuring all client records are accurate and up to date. You will play a vital role in maintaining high service standards by assisting with compliance tasks and helping the team prepare the reliable financial reports that our management and clients rely on.
Your main responsibilities:
- Bookkeeping Support: You have practical bookkeeping experience, primarily using Xero, and feel comfortable navigating the platform. You may also have some exposure to other software such as MYOB or QuickBooks. You understand the core bookkeeping cycle and are confident in reviewing files and processing transactions with high accuracy and a keen eye for detail. You also support month-end processes, including generating month-end reports.
- Payroll Assistance: You possess a solid foundational knowledge of Australian payroll, including Superannuation and PAYG. You have experience processing pay runs in Xero and are committed to ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. You are familiar with basic payroll settings and know how to check data to ensure correct outcomes.
- AR & AP Processing: You are proficient in managing Accounts Receivable and Payable within Xero. You have experience using automation tools like HubDoc or Dext to organize receipts and bills. You understand how processing invoices and expenses impacts the wider financial reports and take pride in keeping ledger entries tidy.
- Workflow & Communication: You are organized, manage your time effectively, and can work through assigned tasks independently. You are comfortable reaching out to clients professionally to request missing documents or clarify simple queries, ensuring a smooth flow of information.
- Regulatory Compliance and control : You have some experience supporting compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, assisting with BAS/IAS preparation, and maintaining accurate financial records and reports.
What your profile will look like:
- Must have - Minimum 2 years experience: Demonstrable experience as an accounts assistant, bookkeeper or in a similar accounting support role.
- Must have - Strong communication skills: Fluent written & oral English skills.
- Must have - Australian client experience: Experience working in bookkeeping for Australian companies or clients, is a must.
Must-Have – Strong Internet Connection: Stable fiber connectivity with a minimum bandwidth of 50 Mbps. - Must have -Degree in Finance or Accounting and Qualified in CIMA, CMA, ACCA, or CA
- Must have - Proactive and independent mindset: A self-motivated individual who can work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
